Center of additive technologies

Undereslab proposes to establish an additive technologies center with the following units included:

  • An analytical department - chemical analysis of materials, microscopy, radiography, etc.

  • Raw materials division - manufacture of raw materials for 3D printing and other processes - wire, powder, ceramics, composites, etc.

  • 3D printing research department - development of printing technologies from various raw materials, production of printed samples for analytical studies;

  • Intellectual department - preparation of intellectual property materials, development of principles for creating new materials and alloys using computer technology and artificial intelligence;

  • Mechanical section – investigating mechanical properties of obtained samples, mechanical processing of products, and sample preparation for research.

Equipment for departments:
An analytical department:

  • Equipment for chemical analysis of samples of various types of materials and alloys (wet chemistry, mass spectrometry, EDX, RDX and ICP analyses);

  • Microscopic equipment of various types, ranging from 10x magnification equipment to ones capable of studying nano dispersed materials;

  • Devices for classifying powder materials and assessing the fractional composition of PSD (Particle Size Distribution) - Laser diffraction system.

Raw materials division:

 

  • Manufacturing equipment for 3D printing raw materials (granules, wire);

  • Device for producing wire from metals and alloys by casting;

  • Device for high speed casting of microsphere using plasma;

  • Device for spraying metal powders and their alloys;

  • Device for plasma spheroidizing of spherical powders;

  • Devices for obtaining non-spherical powders - ball mills, attritors, disintegrators, etc.

  • Devices for classification of powder materials;

  • Fishing and rental equipment – optional.

 
3D Printing Research Department:

  • Powder 3d printers of various types - laser, electron beam (FBD, DED, SLM);

  • Wire 3d printers of various types - laser, electron-beam (WAAM, DED);

 
Intellectual department:
​
  • Computer cluster;

  • Software for predictive calculations of new materials properties;

  • Database of metals, alloys, composites and carbon materials properties;

  • Patent and Intellectual Property Department.

 
Mechanical department:
​
  • Equipment for studying mechanical properties - tensile machines, hydraulic presses, etc.;

  • Equipment for mechanical processing of materials - turning, milling, drilling, etc.;

  • Equipment for heat treatment of samples – vacuum/gas furnaces;

  • Equipment for samples preparation for research:

- Grinding equipment;

- Sample cutting equipment - water jet cutting.
